Running back Trent Richardson has been released by the Oakland Raiders as part of their roster cutdown.
The 24-year-old was selected with the third overall pick in the 2012 Draft by the Cleveland Browns, but was traded to the Indianapolis Colts for a first-round selection after just one season at the club.
Richardson struggled immensely in his time with the AFC South side and was eventually released at the end of the 2014 season. However, he was soon signed by the Raiders to compete for a spot on their roster for the 2015 campaign.
The back started camp on the non-football injury list and failed to find his form on his return, amassing just 42 yards on 18 attempts in his three pre-season games, leading to his release by the Raiders.
Richardson has rushed for 2,032 yards and 17 touchdowns in his three seasons in the NFL.
