Sports Mole rounds up Monday night's NBA action as LeBron James sets another historic mark and Kevin Durant make his return from a two-week absence.

The Charlotte Hornets came back from 22 points down in the second half to overcome the Sacramento Kings 127-122 in an overtime thriller in one of seven NBA games on Monday night.

Kemba Walker, who finished with a game-high 39 points, thought that he had won the game in regulation with a late lay-up, but Rudy Gay then forced overtime with an alley-oop inbounds play with only 0.7s remaining.

Rajon Rondo provided the pass for Gay and he finished with 20 assists, but it was not enough as the Kings lost the extra period. They have now lost four of their five games this season having led going into the fourth quarter.

It was a historic night for LeBron James as the Cleveland Cavaliers forward joined Oscar Robertson as the only players in NBA history to be in the all-time top 25 for both points and assists.

James had 15 points and 13 assists in the Cavs' 117-103 triumph over the Orlando Magic, their eighth straight win at home this season. Kevin Love led the way with a season-high 34 that included a run of 17 straight Cleveland points in the first half.

Cleveland are top of the Eastern Conference with a record of 11-3, and leading the chasing pack are the Miami Heat (9-4) after their 95-78 win over the New York Knicks.

The Knicks had won four in a row, but they struggled against Miami's defence as Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade finished with 16 points each for the hosts.

The San Antonio Spurs are another team yet to suffer defeat at home this season following their seventh success at AT&T Center over the Phoenix Suns.

Phoenix scored a season-low 84 points and committed 28 turnovers as Kawhi Leonard, with 24 points and 13 rebounds, starred for the Spurs.

Former MVP Kevin Durant made his return after two weeks out injured and led the Oklahoma City Thunder to a comfortable 111-89 success over the Utah Jazz.

Durant scored 27 points on 10-13 shooting and Russell Westbrook finished with 20 points, seven rebounds and nine assists as the Thunder improved to 9-6.

Greg Monroe flourished against his former team as the Milwaukee Bucks beat the Detroit Pistons 109-88 for their first win in four.

Monroe had 20 points and 13 rebounds as the Bucks improved to 6-8, with the Pistons dropping back to .500 at 7-7.

Another game, another defeat for the Philadelphia 76ers, who are 0-15 after falling to the Minnesota Timberwolves 100-95 at Target Center.

Including the end of last season, Philadelphia have lost 25 straight regular-season games after throwing away a five-point lead with two-and-a-half minutes to play. Andrew Wiggins top-scored with 32 points for the Wolves.

Results in full: Sacramento Kings 122-127 Charlotte Hornets, Orlando Magic 103-117 Cleveland Cavaliers, New York Knicks 78-95 Miami Heat, Detroit Pistons 88-109 Milwaukee Bucks, Philadelphia 76ers 95-100 Minnesota Timberwolves, Phoenix Suns 84-98 San Antonio Spurs, Oklahoma City Thunder 111-89 Utah Jazz
