British welterweight Conor Benn is cleared by UKAD and is now free to return to boxing in the United Kingdom.

UK Anti-Doping (UKAD) has officially cleared British welterweight Conor Benn of committing a doping offence.

Last October, Benn's highly-anticipated showdown with Chris Eubank Jr was postponed two days before the fight due to it emerging that Benn had failed a drugs test.

The 26-year-old had tested positive for clomifene, resulting in the British Boxing Board of Control (BBBofC) refusing to allow the bout to take place at the O2 Arena.

As more information was made public, it was revealed that Benn had failed two tests, but the undefeated 147lbs fighter maintained his innocence throughout the process.

More recently, the WBC conducted their own report and ruled that there was no wrongdoing on Benn's part, yet that was irrelevant when it came to the Matchroom Sport fighter being able to fight in the United Kingdom having failed to reapply for his BBBofC licence.

Now almost 10 months since the situation came to light, Benn is now allowed to return to the ring on these shores, a consequence of UKAD clearing him of any wrongdoing due to the minimal levels of clomifene that were present in his system.

Benn and his promoters had wanted to revisit the Eubank Jr fight, either in the UK or Abu Dhabi, but Eubank has instead opted to take his rematch with Liam Smith.

In an interview with iFL.TV earlier this week, Eddie Hearn suggested that Benn would return to the ring in one of the British cards during the autumn or winter. body check tags ::
