Tyson Fury declared that he was 'the greatest heavyweight of his era' after stopping Deontay Wilder in an all-time classic in Las Vegas.

Both fighters twice hit the canvas before Fury dropped an exhausted Wilder in the 11th round, drawing the bottom line of their rivalry in emphatic style.

Having looked down and out in the fourth, Fury somehow recovered to edge the second half of the fight to successfully defend his WBC heavyweight title.

After the end of their trilogy fight, the 33-year-old said: "I have proved time and again that I can never be written off. I didn't have my best performance but I pulled it out of the bag when it needed to be done.

"I am the greatest heavyweight champion of my era, without a doubt. Number one. If you play with fire long enough you will get burned."

Fury is expected to face compatriot Dillian Whyte in his next bout in 2022, providing that Whyte can overcome Otto Watlin later this month. body check tags ::
