Deontay Wilder has released a statement on the back of his defeat to Tyson Fury, acknowledging that he is 'thankful' for his rivalry with the WBC heavyweight champion.

After a back-and-forth contest in Las Vegas, Fury knocked out Wilder to conclusively confirm the belief that he is the best in the division.

Wilder refused to shake hands with Fury in the minutes after the bout, a move which manager Shelley Finkel has hinted that he regretted.

The American has now released his own statement about the weekend's fight, finishing his post on Instagram by showing gratitude to his opponent.

Given the manner of his defeat, the Nevada State Athletic Commission has handed Wilder a six-month ban from the ring. body check tags ::
