Scotland lightweight boxer Charlie Flynn hints at going professional after winning a gold medal at the Commonwealth Games.

Scotland boxer Charlie Flynn has hinted at going professional after winning a gold medal at the Commonwealth Games.

Flynn picked up gold in the lightweight division after beating Northern Ireland's Joe Fitzpatrick in Glasgow on Saturday.

Flynn still works part-time at the Royal Mail, but has admitted that he needs to start 'looking after himself'.

"I have dedicated the last two and a half years of my life to boxing, training every morning and night. I haven't had any sponsors, but the Royal Mail have helped me out with paid leave," he told reporters after picking up his gold medal.

"It might be a great time to go pro. I need funding, I need to start looking after myself. At the same time, the Olympics are just round the corner.

"I just need to take it as it comes and I need to start living for myself. At the moment I am winning gold medals but just scraping through. I am working part-time and the other boxers are training full-time."

Flynn also thanked his parents for their support during an interview in the mixed zone.
