England regain The Ashes from Australia with an emphatic win in the fourth Test match at Trent Bridge.

England have regained The Ashes, comfortably winning the fourth Test at Trent Bridge by an innings and 78 runs.

Ahead of the third day, England required just three wickets to reclaim the urn that they had surrendered in 2013 and 40 minutes was all it took to complete the job as Mark Wood bowled Nathan Lyon to start the celebrations.

It wasn't long before Ben Stokes picked up his sixth wicket of the innings to remove Mitchell Starc, who tamely edged the ball to Ian Bell at slip for a 17-ball duck.

Three overs later, Josh Hazlewood also walked for a duck after Wood, who had struggled during Friday's play, clean-bowled him for nought to leave England on the brink.

Adam Voges was one away from his fifty, but he managed to get over the line with a quick single soon after the arrival of Lyon, who had been left with the seemingly helpless task of surviving in the hope that Voges kicked on at the other end.

However, he could only last 11 balls before dragging the ball onto his stumps to give Wood the honour of sealing England's triumph in Nottingham.

Wood would end with 3-69, while Stokes registered career-best figures of 6-36, five of which came during a scintillating display on day two to follow up Stuart Broad's 8-15 on Thursday morning.
