England coach Peter Moores admits that he accepts why there is speculation over his future after the team's elimination from the Cricket World Cup.

England coach Peter Moores has admitted that he understands why there is speculation over his future following the team's exit at the Cricket World Cup.

A 15-run defeat by Bangladesh on Monday saw the Three Lions knocked out of the tournament at the group stage.

Moores's position as coach has been cast in doubt in the wake of the loss, but the 52-year-old is hopeful that he will keep his job.

"Every day you look at if you could have got it right. Now, you feel hollow inside and hugely disappointed," he is quoted as saying by BBC Sport. "It's not my decision if I'm given time. I'm here to try to make a difference. You can't look too far ahead. We should have won that game and we should take that on the chin.

"I understand why people would think I'm not the right man, but it's a bigger picture than that. We haven't played good ODI cricket for a while. We brought what we thought were an exciting group of players, young. There's work to do. The players aren't bad players, but we haven't played well enough."

Moores took charge of England for a second time in April 2014.
