England have lost five wickets for 81 runs at lunch on day two of the first Test against New Zealand in Dunedin.

After the opening day was rained off, the tourists' innings got off to a bad start when Nick Compton was bowled for a duck by Tim Southee with just five runs on the board.

Captain Alastair Cook, who was joined at the crease by Jonathan Trott, was the next to go for 10 as he was caught by Hamish Rutherford off the bowling of Neil Wagner.

Wagner then picked up a second wicket in as many balls when he took out Kevin Pietersen for a golden duck as England laboured on 18-3.

Trott and Ian Bell grafted out in the middle to get England some much-needed runs, but Bell eventually went for 24 off Wagner to leave his side on 64-4.

Joe Root picked up four runs before he was caught in the slips by Dean Brownlie following the bowling of Trent Boult.

England finished the session with Trott (40) and Matt Prior (1) at the crease.
