Jason Holder is hoping to carry over the momentum from the West Indies' Test success over England by knocking Eoin Morgan's top-ranked one-day side off their perch.

Holder captained the Windies to dominant victories in Barbados and Antigua, upsetting their well-fancied tourists in the process.

The all-rounder served an over-rate ban when England grabbed a consolation victory in St Lucia but is back to lead the white-ball team in five one-day internationals and is hoping for another memorable result.

Speaking ahead of Wednesday's opening match at the Kensington Oval, he said: "We're pretty confident, we have momentum from the Test series and good experience in the dressing room.

"We pack a pretty heavy punch when we're stacking up our team. 'Underdogs' is not a bad tag to have – it's more pressure on them and less pressure on us."

"It was tough watching the Test in St Lucia but I'm very hungry to get back on the park and looking forward to the challenge of carrying the team forward."

The Windies have had several disruptions to their squad already, with Keemo Paul, Evin Lewis and Rovman Powell all ruled out having been named, and Shannon Gabriel unable to join up until the fifth ODI after being suspended following his on-field exchange with Joe Root in the third Test.

Short-form specialist Andre Russell was not among the raft of call-ups and, having last played 50-over in July, time is running out if he is to throw his hat into the ring for this summer's World Cup.

The all-rounder is currently playing in the Pakistan Super League but Holder has not ruled out his arrival at some stage in the coming weeks.

"We've selected a side for the first two matches and I don't want to pre-empt selection but it's still possible for anyone to come in," he said.

"We've had a lot of injuries and that may open the door."
