England ODI captain Eoin Morgan admits that his side were "disappointing" with the bat during their six-wicket defeat to Pakistan in Abu Dhabi.

England one-day captain Eoin Morgan has admitted that he is disappointed with his side's batting performance during their loss to Pakistan in Abu Dhabi this afternoon.

England, who were also beaten in a recent Test series by Pakistan, lost by six wickets after two separate batting collapses resulted in their opponents being set a target of just 217 to win.

Mohammad Hafeez hit an unbeaten century to guide his side to a comfortable victory with seven overs to spare, but Morgan insists that a lack of preparation was not to blame despite playing just one warm-up match.

"I think we had enough preparation, the guys were quite clear in what they wanted to do but unfortunately they didn't do it today," he told Sky Sports News.

"It was disappointing that we let our bowlers down but it's one of the first times we've done it in a while, which is good in a way because we can gauge with positive thinking.

"We were, minimum, 30 runs short. We obviously struggled up front, losing three wickets early but me and James [Taylor] did a bit of a patching up job. Then losing four pretty quick wickets hurt us."

Morgan was England's top scorer in the match with 76, while he and Taylor built a partnership of 133 after the openers had slipped to 14-3.
