Hugh Morris says Glamorgan will "immediately investigate" the circumstances which led to their one-day match against Hampshire being abandoned.

Glamorgan chief executive Hugh Morris has said that the club will open an investigation after their Royal London One Day match against Hampshire was abandoned due to safety concerns.

Umpires Paul Baldwin and Neil Mallinder brought the players off after Michael Carberry and Jimmy Adams were struck on the head by deliveries which leapt up off a length.

Morris has pledged an "immediate investigation" into the pitch preparations, in a bid to avoid a repeat in the future.

Morris said: "It is a dark day for the club - this coming after we had staged a hugely successful Ashes Test at the ground.

"I am desperately disappointed that our match has been abandoned but the umpires were left with no alternative as player safety is their primary concern.

"I will speak to all relevant parties to paint a definitive picture of exactly what has happened and what measures we need to put in place to prevent anything like this happening again."

Glamorgan had posted 182-9 in their innings, but the Hampshire reply at the SWALEC Stadium lasted just 40 deliveries.
