Shikhar Dhawan was the star of the Indian innings as he helped his side to a total of 331 in their ICC Champions Trophy clash against South Africa in Cardiff.

Dhawan smashed 114 off 94 balls, which included 12 fours and one six, and also shared an opening partnership of 127 with fellow opener Rohit Sharma, who scored 65.

After the fast-scoring first-wicket stand South Africa managed to slow the run rate somewhat, with Virat Kohli managing just 31 from 41, but by the time Aaron Phangiso caught Dhawan off the bowling of JP Duminy much of the damage was done.

Dhawan's dismissal left India on 227-3 and, although wickets continued to fall, the Indian batsmen were able to guide the score well past 300.

MS Dhoni hit 27 off 26 and Ravindra Jadeja scored quickly in the final few overs, managing 47 off just 29 balls.

Ryan McLaren was the pick of the Proteas bowlers as he took three wickets for 70 runs.
