New Zealand lead by 218 runs at tea on day three of the first Test against England.

James Anderson has inspired an England fightback in the afternoon session on day three of the first Test against England in Dunedin.

However, the hosts still have a healthy 218-run lead as they head in at tea standing on 385-7.

After breaking the opening 158 partnership by removing Peter Fulton in the morning session, Anderson went on to take the vital wicket of Hamish Rutherford for 171.

The wickets of Ross Taylor (31) and Dean Brownlie (27) then followed as he finished the session with figures of 4-97.

Stuart Broad pitched in with two wickets, first removing BJ Watling (0) and then Tim Southee (25).

Brendan McCullum is currently at the crease and looking dangerous on 39, supported at the other end by Bruce Martin.
