New Zealand batsman Brendon McCullum ends his ODI career with a 2-1 series win over Australia in Hamilton.

New Zealand batsman Brendon McCullum ended his one-day international career on a high as the Black Caps sealed a 2-1 series win over Australia in Hamilton on Monday.

The 34-year-old, who has played in 260 ODI matches in his career, scored 47 runs off 27 balls during his last 50-over match, which ended in a 55-run triumph for New Zealand.

Martin Guptill top-scored for the Black Caps with 59 off 61 deliveries and Mitchell Marsh earned the best bowling figures having taken three wickets.

Marsh made headlines when Australia tried to chase down a 247-run target as his dismissal was met with controversy.

The 24-year-old attempted to drive the ball off Matt Henry's delivery, but ended up hitting the inside edge and knocking the ball onto his foot before sending it back into the hands of the bowler.

None of the New Zealand players seemed to appeal for out but umpire Ian Gould signalled for a review and the all-rounder was given his marching orders while on 41 runs.

The rules state that a batsman cannot be declared out if an opposition player does not appeal, but it is not quite clear whether any of the Black Caps did so.

The Aussies mustered 191 runs inside 44 overs as they were bowled all out, with Henry, Adam Milne, Corey Anderson, Doug Bracewell and Ish Sodhi taking wickets.
