New Zealand secure a 32-run win over South Africa in the second T20 international at Centurion to earn a draw in their series.

New Zealand have defeated South Africa by 32 runs to win the second T20 international and draw their series.

Kane Williamson won the toss and opted to bat, and his decision was rewarded as he ensured his side got off to a positive start.

Martin Guptill took the attack to the Proteas in the opening overs of the innings and the Kiwis quickly reached 50 inside the sixth over.

However, Williamson was to fall for 25 when he was caught by Kyle Abbott off the bowling of Kagiso Rabada, while Tom Latham was out cheaply to Eddie Leie to leave the tourists 70-2.

Guptill found his range to reach his half-century and guide his side over the 100-run mark, but he was out for 60 off 35 deliveries when he was caught by David Miller off the bowling of Farhaan Behardien.

Colin Munro and James Neesham put on a partnership late in the innings to guide the Kiwis over the 150-run mark and post a solid total of 177 from their 20 overs.

South Africa's reply got off to a bad start as Hashim Amla and Morne van Wyk departed before the end of the fourth over, with the score at 19-2.

AB de Villiers and Rilee Rossouw responded for the Proteas to get them back up with the run rate, but the skipper was caught by Neesham off the bowling of Nathan McCullum for 15.

Rossouw made 26 before he departed to the bowling of Ishi Sodhi, but Behardien got the innings back on track with the aid of Miller to guide the home side over the 100-run mark.

However, Behardien fell for 36 to McCullum and David Wiese and Aaron Phangiso fell cheaply to all but end the challenge.

Miller made 29 before he was out in the 18th over to the bowling of Mitchell McClenaghan as South Africa fell 33 runs short of their target.
