Surrey have sealed their place in the quarter-finals of the T20 Blast after earning a five-run victory over Gloucestershire.

Gloucestershire won the toss and opted to bowl first as Surrey sent in Jason Roy and Tillakaratne Dilshan to open the batting for the quarter-final hopefuls.

It was a poor start for Roy as he was sent packing on 11 runs, but Dilshan led Surrey's attack alongside Kevin Pietersen, who was the next to fall after hitting 17 off 10 deliveries.

Will Gidman, Benny Howell and Jack Taylor earned two wickets apiece during the innings, but a contribution from Dilshan (36) and an unbeaten knock of 24 from Jade Dernbach helped push the side along.

Gloucestershire were handed a target of 158, but Surrey, who reached 20 overs for the loss of eight wickets, dealt an early blow when Matt Dunn secured the wicket of Alex Gidman for a duck.

Opening batsman Michael Klinger hit four boundaries and one six to help push up Gloucestershire's total, but his knock of 45 was the highest score during his side's innings.

Dunn and Zafar Ansari grabbed three wickets each as Gloucester fell short on 152-7 after 20 overs.
