A century from Joe Root has seen England take control of their deciding one-day international against the West Indies in Antigua.

The tourists lost the toss and batted first before going on to make a score of 303-6 thanks to Root's first ODI hundred.

Meanwhile, Jos Buttler hit 99 for England as they gave themselves a good chance of winning the match and the series.

Michael Lumb (20) was the first England batsmen to be dismissed when he was caught by Sunil Narine off the bowling of Dwayne Bravo.

It got worse for the away side with the very next ball as Ben Stokes fell victim to Bravo for a golden duck to leave his side on 37-2.

Moeen Ali (55) put up some resistance at the crease before he was caught and bowled by Nikita Miller, but Eoin Morgan did little to push England's score on when he was bowled by Narine for just one run.

However, Root (107) and Jos Buttler did most of the damage out in the middle to put England in a promising position.

Root, who was sent back to the pavilion by Bravo, hit his impressive knock off 122 balls, while it took Buttler 84 balls to reach his total when he was caught and bowled by Ravi Rampaul.
