England's Sophie Unwin and Georgia Holt are both fined 200 Swiss francs for staging a bronze medal protest after the Tandem B sprint at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.

England's Sophie Unwin and Georgia Holt, along with team leader Keith Lambert, have been hit with fines for posing with teammates' bronze medals after the Women's Tandem B sprint at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.

Unwin and pilot Holt faced off against Scotland's Libby Clegg and Jenny Holl in what was billed as the bronze-medal race, and the English duo came up trumps to seemingly clinch a spot on the podium.

However, due to rules stipulating that only two medals can be handed out in competitions with a maximum of four teams/participants, Unwin and Holt were not permitted to attend the medal ceremony.

Unwin and Holt did not appear to be aware of such regulations, and the tearful pair responded by holding up the England flag behind the podium, before borrowing medals from teammates and posing on the stand.

The Commonwealth Games Federation is investigating the incident, but the duo and Lambert have each been sanctioned with fines of 200 Swiss francs, which equates to £172.52.

Australia took the gold medal in the Women's Tandem B sprint, with a separate Scotland pair in Ellie Stone and Aileen McGlynn taking the silver. body check tags ::
