David Cameron has recorded a 6-3 victory over Phil Taylor to win the World Seniors Darts Masters.

Taylor, a 14-time world champion, had been hoping to claim his first seniors title after bowing out at the early stages of the World Seniors Darts Championship earlier this year.

However, the 61-year-old succumbed to Canadian thrower Cameron in the final, the current WDF player running away with the contest after the first four sets had been shared.

Cameron squandered a chance to win 6-2, subsequently witnessing Taylor take the eighth set, but he held his nerve to finish 96 in the following set to seal his triumph.

The win capped a fine tournament for Cameron, who defeated Kevin Painter and second-favourite Robert Thornton on the way to winning the biggest title of his career.

The next event on the Seniors Tour will be the World Matchplay, which takes place in Hull between July 1 and July 3.
