Jack Wilshere: "It is time to deliver"

Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere insists that he must start putting in quality performances to live up to his potential at club and international level.

Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere is adamant that he has to start living up to his potential in the Premier League and at international level with England.

The Gunners man has struggled to find his best form for the past couple of seasons after returning from an injury layoff in 2012.

Wilshere feels that he has to follow the example of Mario Gotze to deliver on big stages for Arsene Wenger's side and the Three Lions.

He told The Mirror: "There's no point in me saying 'I've got another year to develop'. I'm 22 now. Look at Germany. Mario Gotze won the World Cup for Germany and he's 22, he's my age. It is time to deliver.

"It is an important season for me, a big season, not just for my country but my club as well.

"I've had a good pre-season, the first time in three or four years where I've managed to do every single session. I've stayed away from injury, trained here every day. I'm fit and in the gym. It's a big season for me."

Wilshere is expected to be in Roy Hodgson's starting lineup for England's Euro 2016 qualifying clash against Switzerland on Monday.
