How Tottenham Hotspur could line up against Arsenal

Sports Mole looks at how Tottenham Hotspur could line up against North London rivals Arsenal for their EFL Cup quarter-final at the Emirates Stadium.

Bitter North London rivals Arsenal are the latest team to stand in the way of Mauricio Pochettino's attempts to win a first trophy as Tottenham Hotspur manager, with Spurs facing an EFL Cup quarter-final trip to the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday night.

Tottenham have not got their hands on any silverware since 2008 and make the short trip across North London having already lost at the Emirates this month.

However, that thrilling 4-2 defeat is the only match Spurs have lost in their last 11 outings across all competitions - a run which includes nine wins too.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how Tottenham could line up for this match.

Out: Eric Dier (appendix), Mousa Dembele (ankle), Victor Wanyama (knee), Jan Vertonghen (thigh), Vincent Janssen (foot)
Doubtful: Juan Foyth (hamstring), Serge Aurier (groin), Davinson Sanchez (hamstring)

Rotation is usually the policy for this competition, but Tottenham's desire to end their wait for a trophy - not to mention the opposition - could lead to Pochettino naming a strong team for this match.

The likes of Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Son Heung-min could all start, then, while Christian Eriksen may also be involved after coming off the bench to score the late winner against Burnley at the weekend.

Danny Rose appeared to pick up a knock in that match despite playing the full 90 minutes and could be rested on Wednesday, although Pochettino's hands may be tied to a certain extent should Juan Foyth not recover from injury to bolster his depleted centre-back options.

Oliver Skipp made his Premier League debut against the Clarets and could be handed a second start in quick succession, while it will be a choice between Michel Vorm or Paulo Gazzaniga between the sticks.

Kieran Trippier may be afforded a rest with Kyle Walker-Peters hoping for a start, and Harry Winks is also in contention to feature after being left on the bench on Saturday.
