Goals from Antoine Griezmann and Saul Niguez saw Atletico Madrid record a 2-0 win at Cordoba in La Liga on Saturday.

Both efforts came in the first period as Atletico moved above Valencia into third position.

Cordoba, meanwhile, remain rooted to the bottom following a 10th straight league defeat.

Here, Sports Mole takes a closer look at how each individual player performed.

CORDOBA

Goal

Juan Carlos: Could not do much with either of the Atletico goals and made an excellent save to deny Diego Godin from close range. Can be pleased with his performance in general. (6/10)

Defence

Edimar: Was always willing to break forward, but the full-back just lacked an end product when he found space. Certainly makes Cordoba more threatening in wide areas. (6/10)

Jose Crespo: Came close to registering late on, but saw his goal-bound header tipped wide by Oblak. Was a threat from set pieces and also had a largely solid game in the back four. (7/10)

Rene Krhin: Started at centre-back with Cordoba having three players suspended. Made some good blocks in the first period, but was guilty of some sloppy moments in possession. (6/10)

Adrian Gunino: Had plenty of opportunities to break forward, especially in the second period, but, like Edimar on the opposite side, the full-back's delivery was not too impressive. (6/10)

Midfield

Fidel: Worked hard in a wide area, but failed to make the most of the space that he was given. Did not come as much of a surprise when he was replaced just past the hour mark. (6/10)

Bruno Zuculini: Was caught in possession for Atletico's first goal and the on-loan midfielder never really recovered from that poor moment. Was substituted at the interval. (4/10)

Abel Gomez: Nice and tidy in possession of the ball and did well to contain the Atletico midfield. Did not make much of an impact, but had a decent afternoon. (6/10)

Borja Garcia: Was given licence to break forward from midfield, but the Spaniard found it difficult to make his mark in what was a crowded area of the field. (6/10)

Bebe: Quite comfortably his team's biggest attacking threat. Rattled the crossbar late on and also came close with a free kick. Showed that he is committed to the cause this season. (7/10)

Attack

Florin Andone: Certainly not short of effort, but the striker's game lasted just 45 minutes as he was replaced at the interval. Has been one of Cordoba's brighter players this season. (5/10)

Substitutes

Fede Cartabia: Immediately brought more invention to the Cordoba attack and set up a couple of chances in the latter stages. Needs to be starting games for the La Liga strugglers. (7/10)

Nabil Ghilas: Was not deemed fit enough to start, but entered at the interval and made an impression in the second half. Caused the Atletico defence problems, but missed a couple of good chances. (7/10)

Heldon Ramos: Had some decent moments in the final 25 minutes, but, like a number of his teammates, lacked an end product when it mattered most. (6/10)

ATLETICO

Goal

Jan Oblak: Made an outstanding save to deny Crespo late on and was also extremely strong from anything that arrived in the air. Seems to be taking his chance with Miguel Moya on the sidelines. (8/10)

Defence

Juanfran: Usually such a threat in the final third, the Spaniard did not break forward on too many occasions here. Picked up a yellow card late on for a poor challenge on Heldon. (6/10)

Diego Godin: Typically strong performance from the centre-back, who never looked flustered. Rarely gives anything less than a 7/10 performance for the Spanish champions. (7/10)

Jose Gimenez: Still just 20, but the Uruguayan international already looks the real deal. Made a number of sensational blocks and set up Saul for Atletico's second of the match. (8/10)

Jesus Gamez: Still being preferred to Guilherme Siqueira at left-back, and the Spaniard had a decent afternoon. Not too much going forward, but largely solid at the back. (6/10)

Midfield

Gabi: Not having as much of an impact as he did last season. Still contributes in certain aspects, but is not really an indispensable figure for Atletico at the moment. (6/10)

Koke: Did not have too many opportunities to demonstrate his excellent set-piece delivery, while the Spaniard had to spend most of the game in a deeper position. (6/10)

Tiago: As expected, the midfielder was neat and tidy in the first period, but he did not emerge for the second half, with Mario Suarez replacing the Portuguese international. (6/10)

Attack

Saul Niguez: Capped his return to the team with a goal after 39 minutes. Seems to have a habit of arriving at the right place at the right time. (7/10)

Mario Mandzukic: Has a strained relationship with head coach Diego Simeone and his performance here would not have helped. Did not seem too interested before being replaced after 62 minutes. (5/10)

Antoine Griezmann: Got Atletico off to the perfect start when he found the bottom corner after five minutes. It was a good finish from the Frenchman, but he did fade as the match developed. (7/10)

Substitutes

Mario Suarez: Replaced Tiago at the interval, but Cordoba seemed to get a lot more joy in the second period. Did not produce for Spain against Netherlands and also struggled a touch here. (5/10)

Fernando Torres: Worked hard in the final third after replacing Mandzukic, but did not have too much to feed on as Cordoba dominated possession in the second period. (6/10)

Arda Turan: Entered for the final 70 minutes, but was fairly quiet. (5/10)
