New Besiktas midfielder Miralem Pjanic says that he felt "disrespected" by Ronald Koeman during his failed spell at Barcelona.

Miralem Pjanic has claimed that Ronald Koeman never explained to him why he was frequently left out of the Barcelona starting lineup last season.

Despite high expectations after his switch from Juventus, Pjanic was limited to just six starts in La Liga with a further seven coming in cup competitions.

The Bosnia-Herzegovina international has since signed for Besiktas on a season-long loan, but the 31-year-old did not hold back in firing a parting shot at his former boss.

Speaking to Marca, Pjanic said: "Koeman disrespected me. He was never talking to me. I'm a player who can accept everything but I would always like it to be explained to me, and not as if I was 15.

"I agreed to lower my salary and join Besiktas because I love playing football."

Pjanic still has three years remaining on his contract at Camp Nou.
