England captain Harry Kane is reportedly expected to prove his fitness in time for Euro 2024.

Kane is still waiting for his first major trophy after Bayern Munich failed to deliver silverware in a single season for the first time since 2011-12.

Despite Bayern's struggles, Kane enjoyed a successful campaign on a personal level, racking up 44 goals in 45 appearances in his first season with the German club.

However, Kane failed to feature in Bayern's final two league games after being withdrawn in the latter stages of the Champions League semi-final second leg against Real Madrid due to a back issue.

Kane confident of being ready for Euro 2024

Outgoing Bayern boss Thomas Tuchel provided an update on Kane's fitness ahead of Saturday's 4-2 defeat against Hoffenheim.

"In Madrid, it was borderline," Tuchel told reporters. "We tried injections and treatments. The back has completely closed.

"It has gotten worse and kept breaking out in small, everyday movements. There's no chance he's even training."

Kane's back problem has raised doubts over whether he will be ready to lead his country at Euro 2024 in Germany next month.

However, according to journalist Florian Plettenburg, Kane is confident of proving his fitness in time for England's tournament opener against Serbia on June 16.

The former Tottenham Hotspur forward has already left Munich and is undergoing specialist treatment to help his recovery.

Kane will be crucial to England's trophy hopes

Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate will be desperate to have his captain available due to his importance as a player and a leader.

England's all-time leading scorer has racked up 62 goals in 82 international appearances, including four goals in his country's run to the Euro 2020 final.

As long as he can prove his fitness, Kane will have a key role to play in England's bid to win an international men's tournament for the first time since the 1966 World Cup.

The Bayern striker is expected to be named when Southgate selects a preliminary squad on Tuesday before finalising a 26-man travelling party at a later date.

Before travelling to Germany, England will compete in two friendlies against Bosnia-Herzegovina and Iceland on June 3 and 7 respectively.
