Carlos Tevez says that he intends to retire from football when his Boca Juniors contract expires in 2019.

Carlos Tevez has revealed that he intends to retire from football when his Boca Juniors contract expires in 2019.

Tevez re-joined Boca for the second time in January after a short spell at Chinese Super League outfit Shanghai Shenhua, where he was reportedly the highest-paid footballer in the world.

The 34-year-old has only scored four times since returning to Boca, and the centre-forward is already preparing for retirement.

"I think that when my contract ends at the end of next year I will [retire]," Tevez told Canal 13. "Other times, I missed the club when I left, but this time it won't be the same. I won't go to another team and I'll retire with this jersey.

"I don't want to retire and then become a coach or director. I must prepare for such a role first."

Tevez has represented the likes of Manchester United, Manchester City and Juventus during his professional career.
