Bournemouth's Dan Gosling: 'We could have beaten Newcastle United'

Bournemouth midfielder Dan Gosling admits that he is disappointed his side were unable to take maximum points off Newcastle United.

Bournemouth midfielder Dan Gosling has insisted that his side could have taken maximum points from Newcastle United in Saturday's Premier League clash at the Vitality Stadium, which finished 2-2.

The former Magpie scored an 89th-minute equaliser against his former club, but was adamant that the Cherries should be disappointed with a draw.

"We were a bit sloppy in the first half. We're disappointed not to have got the winner but we probably left it too late. The substitutes who came on, Lys Mousset and Jermain Defoe, credit to them. We have a big squad and we needed everyone. We have been in this position so many times now - we just know we can score," BBC Sport quotes Gosling as saying.

A Dwight Gayle brace had given Newcastle a 2-0 lead at the interval, but a late strike by substitute Adam Smith coupled with Gosling's goal earned Bournemouth a point.

The draw leaves the Cherries in 10th place in the table, five points above the dropzone and four above the Magpies in 15th.
