Norwich City striker Lewis Grabban re-signs for Bournemouth in a deal thought to be worth around £7m.

Bournemouth have re-signed striker Lewis Grabban from Norwich City for a fee thought to be around £7m.

Grabban left the Cherries in the summer of 2014 before scoring 12 goals in 36 appearances to help Norwich gain promotion to the Premier League last season.

However, the 27-year-old fell out with the club at the start of the current campaign, resulting in him being suspended by manager Alex Neil after going AWOL ahead of a League Cup match against Rotherham United in August.

Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe is understood to have been interested in bringing Grabban back to Dean Court for some time, having three bids for the striker turned down last summer.

However, the Cherries have now clinched their third January signing following the arrivals of Benik Afobe and Juan Iturbe, with Howe claiming that his side will be getting a better Grabban than the one that left the club 18 months ago.

"I think we'll be getting a better Lewis Grabban, but he'll realise that we've got better as well and he will have to adapt too. But we're in no doubt we're getting a good player back," Howe told the club's official website.

"He's also someone who was popular in the dressing room behind the scenes he's a strong motivator and we're delighted to be bringing him back."

Norwich are understood to have agreed to the deal in order to fund a bid for Steven Naismith, who they hope to bring in from Everton for £8m.
