With the takeover of the club having been made official at the end of last month, Chelsea were expected to be proactive with their transfer business ahead of 2022-23.

However, as it stands, the Blues are yet to make any fresh additions, speculation still persisting about players who may arrive at Stamford Bridge or join the likes of Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen in heading for the exit door.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up the latest Chelsea transfer news, including updates on the transfer saga involving Romelu Lukaku and a potential chase for a new centre-back.

Inter 'could cool interest in Lukaku'

After weeks of speculation and alleged back-and-forths between important figures, the expectation is that Lukaku's future will be decided sooner rather than later.

The player is said to want to return to Inter Milan after just one year away from San Siro, but the Italian giants are only in a position to negotiate a loan deal at best.

Meanwhile, Chelsea are not prepared to part ways with their club-record signing unless they receive a suitable proposal, the Blues allegedly wanting a loan fee of £20m to start taking Inter seriously.

According to Belgian football expert Kristof Terreur, the complexity of discussions could eventually result in Inter stepping away from their pursuit at a time when they also want to sign Juventus forward Paulo Dybala on a free transfer.

PSG 'confident of beating Chelsea to Skriniar'

For a number of months, Chelsea have been known to targeting Sevilla defender Jules Kounde, the France international allegedly being keen to take up the opportunity to move to Stamford Bridge.

However, with Rudiger and Christensen both regulars in Thomas Tuchel's back three, the West Londoners would ideally like to make another high-profile addition in that area of the pitch.

Milan Skriniar's name has been mentioned, either as part of a proposal for Lukaku or in a separate transfer with just 12 months remaining on his contract.

Nevertheless, Chelsea will not have a free run at trying to sign the Slovakia international with Paris Saint-Germain seemingly prepared to be proactive in the race for the 27-year-old.

Chelsea extend Gilmour's contract

When Chelsea loaned Billy Gilmour to Norwich City for the 2021-22 campaign, the decision was taken with the intent of the diminutive midfielder staking his claim for a spot in Tuchel's plans for next season.

However, Gilmour, who turned 21 at the weekend, endured a difficult stint with the Canaries, the East Anglian outfit being relegated from the Premier League.

Despite Gilmour making 24 appearances in the top flight, Tuchel has previously claimed that any of the club's loanees needed to stand out in their respective sides to be considered for a place in his first-team squad.

Nevertheless, Chelsea have still opted to exercise a clause in the player's contract, extending his stay at the club until 2024.
