Chelsea reportedly agree a deal with Leicester City to sign Wesley Fofana despite having three previous bids rejected.

Chelsea have reportedly reached an agreement to sign Wesley Fofana from Leicester City.

The Blues have been pursuing the centre-back in recent weeks as they look to continue to strengthen their defence following the arrivals of Kalidou Koulibaly and Marc Cucurella.

Leicester have rejected three previous offers from Chelsea for the 21-year-old, with the latest bid reported to be worth £70m.

However, according to journalist Ben Jacobs, the two clubs have reached a verbal agreement for Fofana to join Chelsea in the current transfer window.

Although the fee is believed to be in the region of £70m, the deal is expected to include add-ons, which could make Fofana the world's most expensive defender.

The two clubs still need to agree on further details and complete the necessary paperwork before the transfer can be confirmed.

After arriving in 2020, Fofana is set to leave Leicester after making 52 appearances for the club. body check tags ::
