Chelsea 'considering Leeds United offer for Ethan Ampadu'

Chelsea are reportedly considering an offer from Leeds United to sign Ethan Ampadu on a permanent deal.

Chelsea are reportedly deliberating over whether to sell Ethan Ampadu to Leeds United.

While the Blues have made considerable progress in their efforts to boost their position with FFP, more sales are expected in due course with a number of players not having a future at Stamford Bridge.

Most notably, Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital wish to find a permanent home for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Romelu Lukaku, each of them commanding big wages and the latter realistically needing to be sold for a fee in order to maximise the funds recoup from his failed £97.5m signing in 2021.

However, there remains a number of homegrown talent and former prospects that will also likely be sold, with Chelsea standing to benefit from the former with funds generated going down as pure profit in the books.

Fulham are one of a number of teams who hold an interest in Callum Hudson-Odoi, while the Evening Standard says that Burnley are still looking to sign former loanee Ian Maatsen.

According to the same outlet, Chelsea have also received an official bid from Leeds for Ampadu, who has just 12 months left on his contract.

Ampadu was signed by Chelsea just before his 17th birthday and he has since gone on to make 12 appearances for the Blues, just one of those outings coming in the Premier League.

Nevertheless, the 22-year-old has experience both in England's top flight and abroad after undertaking four separate loan spells away from Stamford Bridge.

After stints with RB Leipzig, Sheffield United and Venezia, the Wales international has just returned from a productive period with Spezia where he made 31 appearances in Serie A.

His performances at Stadio Alberto Picco have allegedly attracted interest from Udinese, but it is claimed that Leeds are currently the only team to put forward a formal proposal.

Chelsea are allegedly ready to demand in the region of £12m, with Leeds seemingly prepared to go close to that figure, but Udinese are unlikely to spend that sum on the player, despite his versatility in defence and midfield.

Leeds, now with Daniel Farke as head coach, are under pressure to deliver senior additions with eight players having already departed Elland Road this summer.

The Yorkshire giants are eager for a number of players who can play central midfield, with Tyler Adams, Sam Greenwood and recent Millwall loanee Jamie Shackleton their only three recognised options for that position at present. body check tags ::
