Danny Rose: 'I was at fault for Turkey goal'

England left-back Danny Rose accepts responsibility for Turkey's goal during the Three Lions' 2-1 win at the Etihad Stadium.

England full-back Danny Rose has accepted the blame for Turkey's goal during his side's 2-1 victory at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.

The 25-year-old was caught out of position when Volkan Sen stole in down the right channel to set up Hakan Calhanoglu, who duly cancelled out Harry Kane's opener.

Jamie Vardy rescued the victory for England late on, though, and Rose admitted that he was "lucky" to then be named the man of the match.

"I think I might be a bit lucky considering I put myself at fault for the first goal. I take full blame, definitely," he told reporters.

"I was up against a very good player, as you will be at international level, and it was one of the toughest games I've had this season. But the lads helped me keep my head up for the rest of the game and I feel like I did better in the second half.

"I have to thank my teammates for that. I'm playing in front of a class goalkeeper in Joe Hart and he's forever talking to me throughout the game and he helped me pick my head up, as did the other lads."

Rose was winning just his third cap against Turkey and is competing with Ryan Bertrand for the starting berth at Euro 2016.
