Serbian FA: "Danny Rose behaved in inappropriate, unsportsmanlike and vulgar manner"

The Serbian FA insists that no racist chants or remarks were aimed at England Under-21s international Danny Rose last night.

The Serbian FA have denied that their supporters aimed any racist chanting in the direction of Danny Rose or any of his England Under-21s teammates last night.

Sunderland defender Rose was handed his marching orders during the Euro 2013 qualifier last night for kicking the ball into the crowd as his teammates celebrated Connor Wickham's late winning goal.

Rose has since insisted that he had been the subject of monkey chants from some Serbian supporters during the pre-match warm-up. He added that the abuse continued throughout the match.

However, this afternoon the Serbian governing body have insisted that no racist acts were committed.

"[The] FA of Serbia absolutely refuses and denies that there were any occurrences of racism before and during the match at the stadium in Krusevac," read a statement.

"Making connection between the seen incident - a fight between members of the two teams - and racism has absolutely no ground and we consider it to be a total malevolence."

The statement then went on to be highly critical of Rose, describing the left-back's actions as "vulgar" among other things.

"Unfortunately, after the fourth minute of the additional time and the victory goal scored by the guest team, unpleasant scenes were seen at the pitch," it added. "While most of the English team players celebrated the score, their player number 3, Danny Rose, behaved in inappropriate, unsportsmanlike and vulgar manner towards the supporters on the stands at the stadium in Krusevac, and for that he was shown a red card.

"Unfortunately, it would turn out that was the moment the incident, that later developed, had started."

Both FIFA and UEFA have yet to comment on the situation.
