Warsaw Stadium manager sacked

Stadium manager Robert Wojtas is sacked following England's postponed World Cup qualifier in Poland.

The manager of the Warsaw Stadium has been relieved of his duties following the fiasco that saw England's World Cup qualifier with Poland postponed by almost 24 hours.

Despite the stadium having a roof, it was not closed and heavy rain showers resulted in the pitch becoming waterlogged.

Consequently, the match was moved to the next day and ended in a 1-1 draw.

Following an investigation into who was to blame for the cancellation, 41-year-old Robert Wojtas has been sacked.

He has since been replaced by Michal Prymas.
