Everton defender Luke Garbutt has joined Wigan Athletic on a five-month loan deal.
The 23-year-old returns to the Championship having spent last season on loan at Fulham, where he made 25 appearances.
Garbutt, an England Under-21 international, has put pen to paper on a deal that will keep him at Wigan until January 2.
"We've been hit with injuries to Reece James and Andy Kellett and it was clear we needed someone in. Luke is a tremendous young player with a big future in the game and we are delighted to have reached an agreement to bring him here," manager Gary Caldwell told the club's official website.
"He knows the division well having spent last season on loan with Fulham and he adds excellent competition to the squad. He has great energy, and is a dynamic defender who is comfortable as a wing back or as part of a flat back four."
Garbutt will not be eligible for this evening's match against Birmingham City, but could make his debut for the Latics against Nottingham Forest on Saturday.
