How France could line up against the Netherlands

Sports Mole takes an in-depth look at how France could line up for Friday's Euro 2024 qualifying Group B clash with the Netherlands.

France head coach Didier Deschamps has been hit with several defensive withdrawals ahead of Friday's Euro 2024 qualifying Group B clash with the Netherlands at the Johan Cruyff Arena.

All of William Saliba, Dayot Upamecano, Jules Kounde, Presnel Kimpembe, Wesley Fofana and Axel Disasi - who pulled out with a thigh injury on the same day as his call-up - have been ruled out of October's internationals.

However, the Bleus boss has fewer concerns further up the field, where Chelsea's Christopher Nkunku represents the only significant absentee, and a recognisable forward line should be deployed in Amsterdam.

All-time top scorer Olivier Giroud will trade his goalkeeping gloves for a pair of shooting boots following his shot-stopping feats with AC Milan, with Antoine Griezmann operating behind him as ever.

Despite failing to score in four successive matches, Kylian Mbappe will be up to his usual tricks on the left, while Paris Saint-Germain teammate Ousmane Dembele is primed to bomb down the right-hand side.

Fresh from scoring a thunderbolt against the Republic of Ireland last month, Aurelien Tchouameni should form an untouched midfield pairing with Adrien Rabiot, in spite of Eduardo Camavinga's presence.

Lucas Hernandez and Theo Hernandez should form a brotherly bond in the backline, where Benjamin Pavard and the returning Ibrahima Konate should also shield Mike Maignan.

France possible starting lineup: Maignan; Pavard, Konate, L. Hernandez, T. Hernandez; Tchouameni, Rabiot; Dembele, Griezmann, Mbappe; Giroud
