France recorded two wins in two games as they defeated Switzerland 5-2 on Friday night, with the result potentially pushing Les Bleus towards qualification with maximum points.

SWITZERLAND

Goal

Diego Benaglio: Didn't do too badly despite the scoreline. Pulled off a number of great saves to prevent the score from being even more emphatic. (7/10)

Defence

Johan Djourou: Made some good tackles early on to deny both Olivier Giroud and Karim Benzema, poor judgement when he gave away the penalty. (6/10)

Ricardo Rodriguez: A shadow of the player who performed so valiantly against Ecuador. Could've done more to help his side by getting forward and pegging France's attacking players back. (6/10)

Stephan Lichtsteiner: Poor performance from the Juventus man. Fell asleep at crucial points in the game and looked overcome by the occasion when France broke forwards at pace. (5/10)

Steve von Bergen: Had very little time to impact the game and was substituted with a worrying eye injury. (6/10)

Midfield

Valon Behrami: Failed to provide the defensive cover in midfield that probably warranted his selection. (5/10)

Xherdan Shaqiri: Perhaps Switzerland's strongest performer. Looked to stretch France when possible, but wasn't given enough support by his teammates. (7/10)

Gokhan Inler: Usually relied upon for his ability to retain the ball, gave it away at costly points in the game. (5/10)

Attack

Granit Xhaka: Took his goal brilliantly and looked to irritate the French back four when possible. (6/10)

Haris Seferovic: A little quiet and failed to hold up the ball when the Swiss were looking for some respite. (5/10)

Admir Mehmedi: One of the more direct players alongside Shaqiri. Made some positive runs and had Sakho worried a few times in the game. (6/10)

Substitutes

Philippe Senderos: Poor showing from the former Arsenal man. Went missing at the back and was at fault for Benzema's goal. (5/10)

Blerim Dzemaili: Showed great industry when he was brought on and looked to press France. Enterprising free kick earned his side one of the two consolation goals. (7/10)

Josip Drmic: Did little to change the chemistry in attack, though the time of his introduction may suggest otherwise. (6/10)

FRANCE

Goal

Hugo Lloris: Came out well to clear a number of testing crosses. Might have done better to organise his wall for the first Swiss goal. (6/10)

Defence

Mathieu Debuchy: Failed to have the impact he did against Honduras, but his attacking threat wasn't particularly required against a poor Swiss side. (6/10)

Raphael Varane: Stood firm when asked to, but might have rallied his defenders a little better in the closing stages. His defence went on to concede two needless, late goals. (6/10)

Mamadou Sakho: Did the job asked of him, didn't have much to do and was replaced by Laurent Koscielny with over 30 minutes to play. (6/10)

Patrice Evra: Did well to survive without being at fault for any goals, given the lack of cover provided by the men in front of him. Got forward well and might have grabbed a goal had his finishing been a little better. (7/10)

Midfield

Yohan Cabaye A little bit quiet, was booked for a poor foul and hit the bar when it looked easier to score. Did marshall his midfield well and kept things ticking with some short, accurate passing. (7/10)

Blaise Matuidi: Great energy in midfield to put the Swiss under pressure when in possession. Took his goal superbly and might have had another had it not been for the Swiss keeper. (8/10)

Mathieu Valbuena: Didn't quite have the impact he did against Honduras, though his movement was a real treat for the eyes again. Became a focal point to launch France's counter attacks and got things moving forward when required. (7/10)

Moussa Sissoko: Pressed well in a midfield trio all night long, also got forward with intelligence and showed great skill to finish for France's fifth. (9/10)

Attack

Karim Benzema: Caused all sorts of problems with his strength, great movement too when dropping into space. Won his side a penalty, which he should have scored, but made up for it with a neat finish in the second half. Might have had a wonderful second goal had the referee not blown for full time (9/10)

Olivier Giroud: Opened the scoring with a powerful header, proved a nuisance all night with his strength and positioning. Showed great awareness on the counter and applied his class to a perfect cross to allow Valbuena to add France's third.(9/10)

Substitutes

Laurent Koscielny: Introduced in place of Sakho and did well to slot in up until the closing stages. Should have pressed a little harder and may have been at fault for the second goal. (6/10)

Paul Pogba: Looked to make his mark as soon as he was introduced. Played a world-class ball into Benzema for the striker's goal. (8/10)

Antoine Griezmann: Didn't have much time to show his ability, though he might have got a little more involved in closing out Switzerland in the final minutes. A little more pressure could've prevented the second Swiss goal. (6/10)
