How Germany could line up against Northern Ireland

Sports Mole looks at how Germany could line up in Tuesday's Euro 2020 qualifier with Northern Ireland.

Germany will be looking to secure first position in Group C when they welcome Northern Ireland for their final Euro 2020 qualification match on Tuesday night.

Joachim Low's side have already booked their spot in next summer's finals but are not yet sure of first spot, with second-placed Netherlands still in the argument.

Northern Ireland are guaranteed a spot in the playoffs regardless of what happens in this match, but there is still plenty to play for at the Commerzbank-Arena in Frankfurt.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how Germany could line up on home soil.

Marco Reus and Kai Havertz are two players who would have surely featured for Germany in this match had they been available, but the former was forced to withdraw from the squad with an ankle problem while the latter has a hamstring injury.

As a result, Germany are without two of their more productive players in the final third, but Timo Werner and Serge Gnabry are both expected to start once again.

Low has no injury concerns from the side that beat Belarus 4-0 on Saturday night, and Toni Kroos is once again expected to be joined by Joshua Kimmich and Ilkay Gundogan in the middle of the park.

Freiburg's Robin Koch won just his second cap against Belarus but should start once again, while Nico Schulz, Lukas Klostermann and Matthias Ginter are expected to feature in defence.

Niklas Sule's recent injury has left Germany without another key player, and there are not too many recognisable names at the back with Mats Hummels and Jerome Boateng both out of contention.

Julian Brandt for Leon Goretzka is an alteration that could happen in the final third of the field, although it would not be a surprise to see Low stick with the same side for a second successive game.
