Morocco lead Honduras 1-0 at half-time in the opening men's football game of the 2012 Olympics.
The match started in a lively fashion, with Morocco looking the more threatening in the opponent's half during the first 20 minutes.
The first real chance of the match came after 25 minutes when Zakariah Labyad found Noureddine Amrabat in the box, but Maynor Figueroa arrived just in time to block the Moroccan's effort.
Morocco had another chance soon after, this time the ball falling to Houssine Kharja, but his close-range header was tipped over by Jose Mendoza.
A goal looked inevitable, and it came in the 38th minute as the North Africans took the lead. Labyad found Abdelaziz Barrada who unleashed a fine strike past Mendoza.
Honduras almost responded immediately when Andy Najar met the ball inside the box, only to fire the ball well over the crossbar as Morocco took the one-goal lead into the break.
