Wolverhampton Wanderers move 12 points clear at the top of the Championship table thanks to a 1-0 win at Ipswich Town on Saturday afternoon.

Wolverhampton Wanderers have established a 12-point lead at the top of the Championship table thanks to a 1-0 win at Ipswich Town on Saturday afternoon.

Full-back Matt Doherty headed in a left-wing cross to give Wolves a deserved half-time lead at Portman Road which they maintained until the final whistle.

Nuno Espirito Santo's charges had experienced a downturn in form in recent weeks, but their victory over Mick McCarthy's side sees them edge back into a double-figure lead.

Bristol City, meanwhile, have returned to form with a 2-0 win over Queens Park Rangers at Ashton Gate.

The Robins had lost six of their previous seven, including their EFL Cup semi-final ties with Manchester City, and had Nathan Baker sent off for a tackle on Josh Scowen after half an hour.

However, record signing Famara Diedhiou put City ahead just before half time, glancing home Ryan Kent's corner, before forcing a save in the second half that was turned in on the rebound by Joe Bryan.

Promotion-chasing Fulham scored twice in second-half added time to beat 10-man Barnsley at Oakwell.

The Tykes led when Liam Lindsay bundled home from a corner, but the visitors went up a gear after Dimitri Cavare's second booking for a push on Stefan Johansen.

Ryan Sessegnon struck the equaliser on 49 minutes after slamming in a rebound from Ryan Fredericks's effort off the woodwork and also scored the last goal of the game either side of Kevin McDonald's 92nd-minute winner.

The fourth and final Championship game of the day saw Norwich City beat Brentford 1-0 at Griffin Park, courtesy of a long-range strike from James Maddison after just five minutes played.

Results in full: Barnsley 1-3 Fulham, Brentford 0-1 Norwich City, Bristol City 2-0 Queens Park Rangers, Ipswich Town 0-1 Wolverhampton Wanderers
