How Liverpool could line up against Everton

Sports Mole looks at how Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp could set up his side for the Merseyside derby showdown with Everton.

Liverpool will hope to maintain their impressive run of form when they make the short trip to neighbours Everton this weekend, fresh off the back of a memorable win over Manchester City.

The Reds brushed aside the Citizens in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie and are now looking to climb up to second place in the Premier League.

with the second leg against City just three days after this Merseyside derby, though, Jurgen Klopp may well be tempted to make some changes to his starting lineup.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how Klopp could set up his side for the clash at Goodison Park.

Out: Joe Gomez, Ragnar Klavan (thigh), Joel Matip (thigh), Adam Lallana (hamstring)
Doubtful: Nathaniel Clyne (back), Emre Can (back), Mohamed Salah (groin)

Even if Klopp does intend to rotate things this weekend, he will have little choice but to stick with Virgil van Dijk and Dejan Lovren in the heart of defence due to injuries picked up by Matip and Klavan.

The German does have the option of rotating at full-back, however, where Alberto Moreno and Clyne could be in contention, although the latter has had to remain patient so far on his return from a long-term layoff.

Options are a little thinner on the ground in central midfield, as Can is rumoured to have been ruled out for the rest of the season, leaving just Georginio Wijnaldum as an option to come in from the 3-0 win over Man City.

If there was one blemish to the Reds' stunning victory at Anfield on Wednesday night, it was the injury sustained by Salah in the second half, with Klopp admitting that he will take no risks on the Egyptian forward's fitness.

One of Sadio Mane or Roberto Firmino may also be given the afternoon off, so Danny Ings and Dominic Solanke could be handed a chance to impress in attack.
