Jordan Henderson "feeling good" ahead of new season

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson is hopeful that his injury problems are behind him, having so far come through pre-season unscathed.

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson has said that he is "feeling good" ahead of the new season, having missed a large chunk of the previous campaign through injury.

A foot problem saw Henderson miss the final three months of the 2016-17 campaign, but he has returned to action during the Reds' pre-season schedule and has so far come through all four friendlies unscathed.

The 27-year-old is hopeful that his improved preparations for the new season will help him enjoy an injury-free campaign, although he also suggested that he will be quicker to seek treatment for future injuries.

"I can't remember the last time I had a full pre-season so hopefully this one I can stay injury-free, complete pre-season and be feeling good. Hopefully that will stand us in good stead going into the new season," he told the club's official website.

"As a player, you want to be back as quickly as possible and you might go through a bit of pain and a bit of discomfort just to get back out there, but sometimes that isn't ideal and it could make it worse.

"That's another thing I've learned probably over the last few months: sometimes you've got to listen to your body and not push yourself too much if there's some pain."

Liverpool begin the new campaign away to Watford on August 12.
