Fabinho left out of Liverpool's Singapore tour squad

Liverpool midfielder Fabinho has been left out of Jurgen Klopp's 27-man squad for their pre-season tour of Singapore.

The 29-year-old has been the subject of interest from Saudi Pro League champions Al-Ittihad, who allegedly tabled a £40m bid for the Brazilian earlier this month.

Fabinho was left out of Liverpool's squad for their pre-season trip to Germany earlier this summer as he was expected to finalise his permanent move to the Middle East.

However, recent reports emerged stating the midfielder's deal was at risk of collapsing due to disagreements between the two clubs over the payment structure.

The transfer appears to be back on, though, as it is understood that both Liverpool and Al-Ittihad have resumed negotiations, with the expectation being that Fabinho will complete his move to Saudi Arabia.

Liverpool are scheduled to depart Merseyside for Singapore on Thursday ahead of two pre-season friendlies against Leicester City and Bayern Munich.

The Reds have confirmed their 27-man squad that will travel to Asia, and Fabinho is a notable omission along with captain Jordan Henderson, who has completed his transfer to Steven Gerrard's Al Ettifaq.

Fabinho joined Liverpool from Monaco for £43.7m in the summer of 2018 and has established himself as a reliable defensive midfielder under Klopp, albeit letting his standards somewhat slip in the 2022-23 campaign.

The Brazilian has chipped in with 11 goals and 10 assists in 219 appearances for the Reds across all competitions and has won seven trophies including the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup and EFL Cup.

Fabinho and Henderson are the latest names among a mass midfield exodus at Anfield this summer, with James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Naby Keita and Fabio Carvalho having already left the club this summer – the latter of whom joining RB Leipzig on loan.

Arthur has also departed and returned to Juventus following an unsuccessful loan spell last season, while Thiago Alcantara could be the next Reds midfielder to be heading for the exit door having been linked with a move to either Spain or Turkey.

Liverpool have made two summer signing so far this summer, with Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai joining from Brighton & Hove Albion and RB Leipzig respectively, and the midfield duo have been included in Klopp's squad for the trip to Singapore.

Klopp has promised Liverpool supporters that he will strengthen his squad further before the summer transfer window closes, with the likes of Southampton's Romeo Lavia, Fiorentina's Sofyan Amrabat and Crystal Palace's Cheick Doucoure all believed to be on their radar.

Liverpool's 27-man squad for their pre-season tour of Singapore in full:

Alisson Becker, Joe Gomez, Virgil Van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate, Luis Diaz, Dominik Szoboszlai, Darwin Nunez, Alexis Mac Allister, Mohamed Salah, Adrian, Curtis Jones, Cody Gakpo, Harvey Elliott, Diogo Jota, Kostas Tsimikas, Andrew Robertson, Joel Matip, Bobby Clark, Calum Scanlon, Ben Doak, James McConnell, Caoimhin Kelleher, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Lewis Koumas, Jarell Quansah, Fabian Mrozek, Melkamu Frauendorf. body check tags ::
