Five possible destinations for Christian Eriksen

Sports Mole considers five possible destinations for Christian Eriksen should the Dane leave Ajax.

In the career of most players who make it in European football there comes a time for him to make his first big decision as to where to move. That important moment could well be about to occur for Ajax's Christian Eriksen.

With a host of European clubs circling around the 21-year-old Denmark international, Sports Mole takes a look at some of the possible destinations for one of football's brightest prospects.

Liverpool:

The Reds have been linked with Eriksen for almost as long as he has been known as a talent. The club are always looking secure skilful youngsters and Eriksen certainly fits that remit.

The centre of midfield is arguably where Liverpool have struggled most in recent years and Eriksen would certainly bring some creativity to the centre of the park. With Jonjo Shelvey having left and Jordan Henderson out of favour there is a need for support to Lucas and Joe Allen.

Whether or not Eriksen wants to move to Anfield is in question, however, with the player reportedly turning down an approach in May.

AC Milan:

Many European greats have made their name at Milan down the years and although they have not hit the same heights in recent times, the San Siro giants are still a huge draw for potential signings.

If the latest rumours are to be believed then Milan have joined the race for the Dane. The Italian side do have talent in the centre of their midfield, with the likes of Kevin-Prince Boateng, Nigel de Jong and Riccardo Montolivo, but there is room in their squad for another.

Eriksen's ability to drive forward with the ball would provide Milan with a different type of prospect, with many of their current options preferring to sit deeper.

Borussia Dortmund:

It has been a big summer for Dortmund. Already they have lost Mario Gotze to Bayern Munich, but have done a fair bit of business in the other direction, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Sokratis Papastathopoulous all arriving in recent weeks.

Dortmund have been strongly linked with a move for Eriksen, particularly towards the end of last season, but with the arrival of Mkhitaryan, who is a similar type of midfielder, the need for a new midfielder is not as urgent.

That said, with Marco Reus usually used on the left side of an attacking three, an extra body to create through the middle alongside Mkhitaryan, Nuri Sahin or Ilkay Gundogan could tempt Jurgen Klopp should Eriksen be available at a decent price.

Tottenham Hotspur:

Although the signing of Paulinho earlier in the summer will have eased some of Spurs' requirement for a central midfielder, the squad still has room for an extra body, with Tom Huddlestone constantly linked with a move away and Scott Parker another year older.

With Andre Villas-Boas's preference to play a couple of ball-playing midfielders alongside the deeper Sandro, Moussa Dembele and Paulinho could do with a little of support to get the Tottenham midfield ticking.

While Clint Dempsey and Gylfi Sigurdsson are more adept further forward, Eriksen loves the ball in the middle, before passing or driving into the attacking third and in that respect he would suit Spurs.

Paris Saint-Germain:

If there is one area that PSG are in need of improvement it is an attack-minded midfielder who plays in a deeper position. Their squad is rife with players who can support the forwards, such as Lucas Moura, Javier Pastore and Ezequiel Lavezzi, but the likes of Thiago Motta and Blaise Matuidi are much more defensive minded.

With that in mind, Eriksen could bulk that area of the pitch and would be a good link between defence and attack. PSG have not been linked with the player, however, and he looks more likely to move to one of the interested parties.
