The agent of Wolfsburg's Micky van de Ven has admitted that a proposed summer switch to Tottenham Hotspur would be a "good move" for the defender.

The 22-year-old has been strongly linked with a transfer to the North London club, with newly-appointed manager Ange Postecoglou keen to bolster his defensive options ahead of the new campaign.

Liverpool are also understood to be keeping tabs on Van de Ven, but it is thought that Spurs are currently leading the race for his signature.

A recent report claims that Tottenham are yet to make a formal bid for the £30m-rated centre-back, although the Dutchman is understood to have agreed personal terms with the Premier League club.

Van de Ven still has four years remaining on his Wolfsburg contract, but the defender recently refused to rule out a move to the Premier League.

"I'm very good [happy] at Wolfsburg, so I don't mind staying at Wolfsburg for another year, but if I get a chance to leave I would like to," Van de Ven told Voetbal International.

"I read everything...I have good contact with my agent, so I know what's going on. I'll see where it will lead.

"Hopefully, [moving to a bigger club] would be nice. The Premier League, maybe, yes. Who knows?"

Van de Ven's agent Jose Fortes Rodriguez has since admitted that a move to Tottenham this summer would suit all parties.

Speaking to Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung, as quoted by the Evening Standard, Rodriguez said: "We have to talk to [Wolfsburg] first. I think Tottenham would be a good move for Micky. But there is no agreement."

Asked if a decision over Van de Ven's future could be made soon, Rodriguez added: "Hard to say. We have to talk to [Wolfsburg]".

After completing a €3.5m (£3m) transfer from Volendam to Wolfsburg in 2021, Van de Ven endured a frustrating injury-hit debut campaign with the German club, featuring just five times in 2021-22.

However, the left-footed centre-back, who can also operate at left-back, enjoyed a breakthrough year with Wolfsburg last season and became a first-team regular under head coach Niko Kovac, stating 36 games across all tournaments.

Van de Ven was recently in action for the Netherlands national team at the European Under-21s Championship, but the defender was unable to help his nation progress from Group A ahead of Georgia and Portugal.

Wolfsburg's No.5 is not the only defender believed to be on Tottenham's radar, as the likes of Bayer Leverkusen's Edmond Tapsoba, Crystal Palace's Marc Guehi and Fulham's Tosin Adarabioyo have all been linked with a summer move to North London. body check tags ::
