Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will reportedly leave Liverpool on a free transfer this summer.

The 29-year-old has struggled for action during the 2022-23 campaign, only featuring on 12 occasions in all competitions, while he has scored just once in an underwhelming season to date.

Oxlade-Chamberlain's contract at Anfield is due to expire at the end of June, and according to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, the midfielder will leave the club on a free transfer this summer.

The Englishman was regarded as one of the brightest young players in the country during his time at Southampton, where his form during the 2010-11 campaign earned him a move to Arsenal.

Oxlade-Chamberlain spent six years with the Gunners, representing them on 198 occasions in all competitions, contributing 20 goals and 32 assists in the process.

The midfielder moved to Liverpool in the summer of 2017 for a fee in the region of £35m, and he has played 145 times for the Reds, contributing 18 goals and 15 assists in the process.

Oxlade-Chamberlain has enjoyed a successful period at Anfield in terms of trophies, winning the Premier League, EFL Cup, Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and Club World Cup, following on from the three FA Cups and three Community Shields that he won at Arsenal.

However, the Englishman has struggled with injuries in recent seasons, which have seen him fail to earn a regular spot in Jurgen Klopp's starting XI.

Oxlade-Chamberlain's most productive campaign at Anfield came in 2019-20, when he featured on 43 occasions in all competitions, scoring eight goals in the process.

The midfielder has also featured 35 times for England during his career, although he has not been involved for the Three Lions since 2019.

Liverpool are planning to overhaul their midfield this summer, with Arthur expected to return to Juventus, while Naby Keita and James Milner also only have deals until the end of June.

Borussia Dortmund's Jude Bellingham is believed to be the club's leading target, although they will face serious interest from Manchester City and Real Madrid.

Much of the club's summer activity is likely to depend on whether they are able to secure a Champions League position for the 2023-24 campaign.

A total of 42 points from 26 matches has left Klopp's side in sixth position in the Premier League table, seven points behind fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur with two games in hand. body check tags ::
