Neil Warnock: 'Pep Guardiola should expect naughty tackles'

Cardiff City manager Neil Warnock suggests that Manchester City should have expected "naughty challenges" during their FA Cup tie in South Wales.

Cardiff City manager Neil Warnock has suggested that Manchester City counterpart Pep Guardiola should have expected "naughty tackles" during this afternoon's FA Cup clash in South Wales.

Man City took another step towards a potential quadruple with victory at the Cardiff City Stadium, but the win came at a price with Leroy Sane ruled out for a minimum of two weeks after being caught by a horror challenge from Joe Bennett.

Bennet was only shown a yellow card for that incident but was eventually given his marching orders for another poor tackle on Brahim Diaz late on, and Warnock slammed the defender's "pathetic challenge" which rules him out of next weekend's Championship trip to Leeds United.

"They dished it out a bit, they had one or two naughty tackles. [Guardiola] is in England, what do you expect?" Warnock told reporters at his post-match press conference.

"I suppose when you're like that, you want everything to be nice, pretty and perfect. But you don't get that here, you get different challenges. They're so quick, that's the problem, with the movement and everything else, you think you're there and all of a sudden he's gone.

"I was disappointed [Bennett] got sent off at the end. Obviously he doesn't want to go to Leeds, because it was an absolutely pathetic challenge when he is on a booking. To do something like that I think is disrespectful to his teammates."

Cardiff have won just one of their last six Championship matches to slip down to third place, two points adrift of the automatic promotion spots.
