Manchester City striker Erling Braut Haaland has won the 2022-23 Premier League Golden Boot award.

The Norwegian scored a record-breaking 36 goals in just 35 appearances in his debut campaign with champions Man City, surpassing the previous record of 34 goals for a single season set by both Alan Shearer (1993-94) and Andy Cole (1994-95).

Haaland was unable to add to his goal tally on the final day of the season as he watched on as an unused substitute in the Citizens' 1-0 defeat away against Brentford on Sunday.

Nevertheless, the 22-year-old claims the Golden Boot award after finishing top of the scoring charts, six clear of Tottenham Hotspur's Harry Kane, who scored twice in a 4-1 win at Leeds United to increase his goal tally to 30 for the season.

Haaland becomes just the third Man City player in Premier League history to win the Golden Boot after Sergio Aguero, who scored 26 goals in 2014-15, and Carlos Tevez, who shared the 2010-11 award with Dimitar Berbatov after netting 20 times.

City's No.9 made an electric start to life at the Etihad Stadium and won the Player of the Month award for August after scoring nine goals in his opening five games, including back-to-back home hat-tricks against Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest.

Haaland then became the first-ever Premier League player to score three successive home hat-tricks when he scored a treble in a 4-1 victory over rival Manchester United in October; the Norwegian scored 22 of his 36 Premier League goals at the Etihad.

The Scandinavian striker also won the Player of the Month award in April after scoring six goals in four matches, before netting his record-breaking 35th and 36th league goals in 3-0 wins over West Ham United and Everton in May.

Haaland picks up his latest individual accolade after receiving the Premier League Player & Young Player of the Season awards – the first player in the division's history to scoop both awards in the same season – while he has also been named the Football Writers' Association Footballer of the Year.

The Citizens goal machine has scored a remarkable 52 goals in 51 appearances across all competitions this season, and he will be hoping to end the season on a high as Pep Guardiola's treble-chasing side prepare for two huge finals in the FA Cup and Champions League next month.
