Manchester City have announced that summer signing Erling Braut Haaland will wear the number nine shirt.
The 21-year-old officially joined the Premier League champions from Borussia Dortmund on July 1, putting pen to paper on a five-year deal after the Citizens activated the £51m release clause in his contract.
While Haaland was the first signing made by Pep Guardiola this summer, fellow new recruits Kalvin Phillips and Stefan Ortega were handed their squad numbers first, with the former to wear the number four and the latter to don the number 18.
Man City confirmed the arrival of January addition Julian Alvarez on Friday, and revealed that the Argentine forward will wear the number 19 shirt at the Etihad Stadium.
Haaland appeared to leak his shirt number while on holiday in Marbella earlier this week, as he posed alongside a fan with City's new home shirt with his name and the number '9' on the back in a video which emerged on social media.
The Citizens have now confirmed on their official website that the Norwegian striker will wear the number nine, which has been vacated by Gabriel Jesus following his permanent switch to Arsenal.
Haaland will don a different number to his father Alfe-Inge Haaland, who spent three years at City between 2000 and 2003 wearing the number 15.
Man City's four new signings will be welcomed at a special presentation taking place at the Etihad on Sunday. body check tags ::
