Andre Onana completed his first training session with Manchester United on Friday and is now in line to make his debut for the Red Devils in Saturday's pre-season clash against Arsenal.

The Cameroonian's arrival from Inter Milan was only confirmed on Thursday, but he headed straight to the United States to link up with his new teammates on their pre-season tour.

Onana trained with Man United for the first time on Friday, with images on the club's official website showing the goalkeeper in action.

There is now an outside chance that the 27-year-old could make his first appearance for the club in Saturday's friendly with Arsenal in New Jersey.

Onana was in impressive form for Inter during the 2022-23 campaign, keeping 19 clean sheets in 41 appearances in all competitions, and he has now reunited with Erik ten Hag, having played under the Man United head coach at Ajax.

The Red Devils have played two friendlies this summer, beating Leeds United 2-0 in Oslo before recording a 1-0 victory over Lyon in Edinburgh.

An academy team will face Wrexham on July 25, while the first team will follow the game against Arsenal with clashes against Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund.

Tom Heaton and Dean Henderson are also on the pre-season tour, but the latter is widely expected to join Nottingham Forest on a permanent basis.

There has also been speculation surrounding Heaton's future, but the 37-year-old is set to form part of the club's goalkeeping department next season alongside Onana and another stopper.

"We don't play friendly games. So very serious. This is the only period in the year we can train. We have to take this opportunity," Ten Hag told reporters when discussing the upcoming matches during Friday's press conference.

"On purpose we choose good opponents. We already have two. Leeds is a rival, Lyon is a very strong team in French football. And now we play here really strong teams in Arsenal, Real Madrid and Dortmund.

"Also teams across Europe and a Premier League team so it's really good to compete with them because then we can test ourselves and know after such games where we are.

"We also because you get tested you can work very good on your way of play. That is the reason for pre-season. To get your play right because you want to raise the bar."

Man United are building towards their Premier League opener at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers on August 14, and they will also play friendlies in Europe against Lens and Athletic Bilbao ahead of their return to competitive action. body check tags ::
